What is donor cartilage rhinoplasty?
Donor rib cartilage rhinoplasty is a surgery that uses rib cartilage from another person’s cadaver. If the patient does not have their own nasal cartilage to use, or if they are uncomfortable with taking cartilage from their chest, it is irradiated or chemically treated to remove infectious agents and prevent immune reactions.

What is costal cartilage?
It refers to the cartilage under the ribs in the chest and is located in front of the 12 ribs on each side. The areas used for rhinoplasty range from 6 to 10, with 7 being the longest and most commonly used because it is the most accessible.
Incisions for cartilage harvesting are minimal, with a 2-3 cm incision line for safe and delicate harvesting. Scars are located in the inframammary fold to minimize exposure and will fade over 6 months.
